Day one logistics are the most complicated for the entire trip. Most hikers catch a bus from San Jose to Siquirres, then a second bus from Siquirres to Caño Blanco. A peaceful, welcoming beachfront lodge with thoughtful hosts and comfortable rooms — the perfect place to start the Camino journey.

I only stayed one night at Green Gold Lodge in Parismina, but it left a lasting impression. The beachfront location is stunning, the room was clean, comfortable, and felt like a quiet sanctuary.

The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, and everything about the place felt thoughtful and complimentary. It was the perfect spot to begin my Camino journey. I’d absolutely return.

A lovely lodge right on the beach where you can relax in a hammock or scout for sloths and monkeys in the trees. A very peaceful place.
