Asociacion Mar a Mar

The Camino de Costa Rica was created by the Mar a Mar Association, which was established in 2015. They have six goals, which are listed below:

  1. Providing hikers a route apt for a wide variety of hikers that includes many unique experiences appreciating the natural and cultural attractions of Costa Rica by means of a backcountry trail that unites the Atlantic with the Pacific Oceans.
  2. Ensure accurate information, signage and maintenance of the route as well as the values and standards of a long distance international route.
  3. Help the development of small rural businesses with a commitment to sustainability through our role as Community Fund.
  4. Support the sustainable development in small communities, through support to artesans, local guides, and strengthening community organizations
  5. Attracting visitors to the outdoors to appreciate the mountains, forests, valleys, and villages of Costa Rica, appreciating its biodiversity.
  6. Promoting the protection of biodiversity and contributing to environmental education.
