About Hacienda Ganadera Tapanti

There are a couple rooms located in the main barn, and by barn, it’s directly over stables. Next to the barn there is a camping area along the Reventazon river. Camping is set up well, with flush toilets and showers available. Scattered amongst the property are other rooms and cabins that can be rented too, so you have lots of options for lodging. The owner, Marvin, is a very personable, friendly cowboy who is happy to show you around if you happen to run into him.

If the flows are right and you’re organized, packrafting or tubing this section of the Reventazon would be a lot of fun. The river runs right alongside the property and looks like continuous class II+/III whitewater up until the bridge which is downstream a kilometer or so. Would be worth exploring further up and downstream to do an extended whitewater trip.

In the barn there is a small restaurant with a basic menu, there are no services immediately nearby or small stores, however, you are a ten minute drive to an area with slightly more services.

Dinner: The restaurant closes at 4:30PM, but if you order in advance they will leave a plate for you that can be heated up. The menu can be viewed in the above photo gallery (click Show More Photos).

Gringo pricing

December 2, 2025

They jacked up the pricing three times on my last visit.

Rip off for a average breakfast costing 2-3000 colones and charging 9000

Do not eat there

Elegant rooms, lovely view

January 25, 2025

Elegant rooms, lovely view, but a little strange and the least homey place we stayed. We were the only guests and the staff, who were great, went home at five, leaving us alone in the building with dinners to heat in the microwave
