Due to several variables, the final pricing varies dramatically on the Camino de Costa Rica, however, we have compiled a general cost breakdown below.

Guided trip costs
Using a guide service means there are few to zero logistics to figure out but it does come at a cost. For 2025 trips, a guided Camino de Costa Rica tour costs between $2,400 and $4,000 per person for a 14-day trip. The variability in the pricing is a reflection of some companies including extra tours such as Pacuare river rafting or shuttles back to San Jose. Guided tours staying at more expensive accommodations, such as Casa Turire or Rio Vista Lodge, will see a pricier ticket cost too.
DIY / unguided trip costs
Similar to a guide service, there is significant variability in the pricing based on where you stay, how long of a hike you’re planning, and if you are booking additional activities. David Rodriguez, who runs the Camino de Costa Rica workshop, has estimated that you can hike the entire trail for as low as $900 per person. This estimate is in the ballpark, but low end, of our average per night stay including dinner and breakfast for a 14-day trek. From our data we see an average cost of $1,100 per person.
