To assist hikers stay on the correct path and to commemorate each stage, the association and community have placed different trail markers along the route. The sign types include mojónes, directional signs, and trail blazes. These signs are listed below with photos.

Mojónes

The first are landmarks or milestones. In Spanish, these are called Mojónes. You will find them at each stage of the Camino and are easy to spot.

Directional Signs

At intersections, you will likely come across directional signs keeping you on the path. The style of these signs varies, but you will primarily see them in the three types below.

Trail Blazes

Trail blazes are small markings that indicate you are on the correct path. These tend to be a vertical red line, but we’ve seen them horizontal as well. A more obvious clue is when you come across the hummingbird logo.

Navigation tools & the indigenous section

While the trail markers are helpful, it’s recommended that you also use a navigational app, such as FarOut to ensure you’re on the right path and to help you research the trail ahead. Additionally, keep in mind that for the indigenous section of the Camino, hiring a guide is a requirement.
