With a trail as long as the Camino de Costa Rica, there are going to be changes and updates. A section of the trail might close meaning you need to do a short detour. A pulperia might have adjusted their hours. A secret swimming hole might need to be pointed out. This can all be done with the help of FarOut, the official Camino de Costa Rica trail app. Trail updates and comments can be placed by anyone on any waypoint allowing fellow hikers to get on-the-fly updates on what to expect.
How to find trail comments
Method one – all trail comments
There are two methods for finding trail comments in FarOut. The first will alert you to all trail comments. To do this, click the wrench and hammer icon in the FarOut app. Once the menu screen opens up, then tap View Recent Comments. This will show you all comments on all waypoints.
Method two – individual comments
Finding comments and updates for a specific waypoint is easy. Simply navigate to the waypoint and select it. Once open, scroll to the bottom and you’ll see any comments listed there.

Tips
- Pay attention to the date of the most recent comments. If a comment is old it may no longer matter.
- If you come across a comment that is no longer valid, write a comment updating the community on the current status.
